Prevalence of oral diseases are changing, it remains true that the virtually every adult in the world has experience of either one or the other oral diseases and is difficult to achieve throughout the developing world not only because of increase in oral diseases but also because of lack of preventive programmes. Prevention of health is not an altruist concept. It is mankind's primary hope for improving health. Global perspective of preventive dentistry is based on the premise that every oral health activity implemented by the individuals, the community or the dental professional is targeted towards the prevention of some aspects of the health-disease continuum. New research is demonstrating that a person's total health is indeed related to their oral health. Opportunities for early diagnosis and prevention of dental diseases will play an increasing role in dental practices in the future as patients understands the importance of oral health to overall health. A prospective approach of prevention and early intervention in treating the diseases is more important than ever before.
