This book is intended to cater to the needs of the undergraduate students of Civil Engineering who take a laboratory course of fluid mechanics. Since the focus in higher education is shifting more towards outcome based education, it is expected that a graduate is competent in technical concepts, designing the experiments, analyzing the results, carrying out advanced experimental studies, communicating through good technical reports, plotting and analyzing graphs, being ethical in conducting and reporting results and forming a habit of continuing education. This manual is targeted towards fulfilling these needs. The discussion questions at the end of each experiment trains the student in analyzing the experimental results, the extended experiments help the students to develop creativity skills, the mini project will help the students to think about the applicability of the experiment in practical life, the sample technical report trains the student to effectively communicate the results and being ethical about the experimental findings. The success of all this depends on the mutual commitment of the course teacher and the student.
